Quantum annealing on NISQ devices in practical stochastic optimisation [1]
The aim of the research is to effectively apply state-of-the-art quantum annealing technology to the stochastic optimisation of practical scheduling problems. At the current stage of development, quantum annealing is NISQ (noisy intermediate scale quantum) devices. Therefore, an innovative hybrid quantum-classical approach is proposed, aimed at decomposing a large optimisation problem into smaller problems accessible to current quantum devices and taking advantage of the stochastic results of calculations on these devices. The results of quantum calculations on NISQ devices are probabilistic. They constitute a stochastic sample which, according to the proposed research hypothesis, can be linked to the probabilistic nature of the optimisation problem under investigation.
