About the Institute

Institute of Theoretical and Applied Informatics, Polish Academy of Sciences is a research institute whose science activity concentrates in the area of Information Technology. The Institute is also involved in training an advanced level technical and scientific staff and both initiates and participates in projects aimed at development of innovative commercial sector. ITAI takes part in realization of Polish Academy of Sciences' mission of advancement promotion, integration and dissemination of Polish science and contributes to education and national culture.

  • Our employee and student of the Faculty of Applied Mathematics at the Silesian University of Technology, Bartosz Grabowski, received the Diamond Grant for the project entitled "Application of knowledge transfer for convolutional neural networks to improve the classification of hyperspectral images".

The central limit theorem (CLT) and the law of the iterated logarithm (LIL) are, along the strong law of large numbers (SLLN), the most common limit theorems. Some well-known results concerning limit theorems, obtained mainly due to the martingale method, are gathered in [1]. Although the asymptotic behaviour of stationary and ergodic Markov chains is already well investigated, limit theorems for a wider class of Markov processes are still the subject of research.  Together with D. Czapla and K.

Since March 1st 2018 ITAI PAS together with AIUT company executes the project "Dynamic wireless framework for Smart City IoT infrastructure". The aim of the project is the development of the devices and the platform for data harvesting from the meters which provide dynamically managed, auto-configured wireless connectivity for the Internet of Things (IoT), which fulfill SmartCity needs.

They take into account the fact that the players may be unaware of some of the strategies available to them or their opponents as well as the players may have a restricted view about the number of players participating in the game. The aim of my presentation is to explain how to introduce this notion into theory of quantum games. I shall focus on PQ Penny Flip game defined by D. Meyer. In particular, I shall formalize the previous results and consider other cases of unawareness in the game.

Violation of Leggett-Garga's inequalities means that the system shows a type of non-classical correlation that exhibited by quantum observables measured at different moments of times. These correlations are used, for example, to test macroscopic realism, assess the "quantumness" of the system, and in the protocols in information theory. Despite well-established results regarding correlation in time for closed systems, the area of open systems is still poorly explored.

In this talk I will summarize research of nonclassical properties of quantum entangled states. For this purpose we use a method, which employs both linear programming and nonlinear optimization. This method is used to calculate boundaries of classical description (local and realistic) of popular families of multi-particle quantum states.

Seminar will address novel research challenges regarding the network softwareization trend. Software defined networks, network function virtualization, quality of service and quality of experience, cloud computing, dynamic optical networks, and cyber-security are selected topics. Aforementioned issues will be presented from the perspective of research and development activities being conducted in AGH Department of Telecommunications.

The lecture presents the need to analyze the quality and accuracy of 3D data. 3D data (acquired by 3D scanners, or medical imaging) are often used in applications that require measurements. The applications include medical diagnostics and criminal site investigation. The lecture presents methods that will be used to describe the quality and accuracy of 3D data obtained from the scanner through data processing.
